Talco is a lesser known English tool company, They were short lived in the uk as a hand tool manufacturer, but the name continues abroad to this day. This small no.4 smoothing plane made in the UK has been, not so much restored, but tuned up and cleaned for use. the rust has been removed from the body, the sole has been smoothed, and the blade frog has been set.
The rear handle had been broken in its life (as they often have) and glued back together by a previous keeper.
its a beautiful plane to use. its not quite up to the standard of vintage Stanley planes, but now tuned up, you would struggle to tell the difference.
it takes a standard sized plane iron, exactly the same as a Stanley or a Record, which makes a blade upgrade easy.
If you would like this item delivered, it will be supplied without its original blade, due to new UK law. However if you would like to collect from the workshop in Cheltenham, it will be included providing you can supply proof of age.
